The most popular two that go by the name “Rose of Jericho” are Anastatica heirochuntica and Selaginella lepidophylla.

Luckily, our Rose of Jericho (the Selaginella lepidophylla) is easily stored and requires no care as long as it is not in contact with water or moisture of any kind. You can let your plant completely dry out and it will come right back to life after a few hours of hydration. It doesn’t get much easier than that!

Instructions: What you need to revive a Rose of Jericho

• Wide, shallow dish
• (Optional) Cleaned pebbles – enough to spread across the bottom of the dish
• Distilled or spring water at room-temperature. Try to avoid chlorinated tap water and salt water.
• A bright spot with indirect sunlight
• A dried Rose of Jericho or False Rose of Jericho

To plant your Rose of Jericho, fill dish with cleaned pebbles and add water until the pebbles are just submerged. Place your Rose of Jericho on top with its roots touching the water. It should start uncurling/opening up and turning green after a few hours.

You can also skip the pebbles and put the plant right into a shallow dish of water, but the pebbles can help it balance and also look nice. Just make sure that you do not submerge the plant in water, and replenish the water when the plant starts curling up at the edges to avoid the growth of bacteria.

We have also found that adding foreign objects such as paper money, coins and crystals to the water can contaminate and kill the plant due to contamination from bacteria.

Keep away from pets, as it may be toxic to them.
